INGREDIENTS:

  • Chana Dal – 1/2 Cup
  • Lauki / Bottle Gourd – 1 No
  • Salt – As per your need
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 TSP
  • Water – As per your need
  • Oil – As per your need
  • Spices – Bay Leaf, Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamon
  • Onion – 2 Nos (Chopped)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 TSP
  • Tomato – 2 Nos (Chopped)
  • Cumin Seed – 1 TSP
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 TSP
  • Coriander Powder – 1 TSP
  • Garnish – With Coriander Leaves

Preparation Method

Today’s recipe is delicious and taste recipe that is Lauki Chana Dal and so let’s gets started.

Step 1 (Lauki Chana Dal)

  1. Wash and soak ½ Cup of chana dal in water for about 1 hour.
  2. Then after an hour strain and soaked dal and keep it a side.
  3. Take a pressure cooker and add the ½ cup of soaked chana dal and skinless tender lauki pieces or bottle gourd pieces.
  4. Add Salt as per your need & add Turmeric Powder – 1/2 TSP.
  5. Add water as per your need & mix it well.
  6. Cover the pressure cooker with lid, place the weight and cook the chana dal and lauki for 1 whistle and keep it a side.

Step 2 

  1. Take a kadai and add oil as per your need  and add Spices – Bay Leaf, Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamon & saute it for few minutes.
  2. Then add Onion – 2 Nos (Chopped) and add Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 TSP and mix it well.
  3. Then add Tomato – 2 Nos (Chopped) and add Cumin Seed – 1 TSP.
  4. Add Red Chilli Powder – 1 TSP & add Coriander Powder – 1 TSP.
  5. Then add salt and water as per your need and mix it well and close the kadai with lid for few minutes.
  6. Then add Cooked Dal & lauki and mix it well.
  7. Cover the kadai with a lid and simmer curry for about 10 minutes.
  8. Then Garnish with chopped Coriander Leaves.
  9. It is ready to serve as side dish for Roti or Rice.
