INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Ghee or oil for frying

Preparation Method

Step 1 (Tomato Paratha)

Prepare the dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour with tomato puree, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and chopped coriander leaves.
Need to knead the mixture into a soft and smooth dough by adding water gradually. Keep it aside for about 20 minutes by covering it.

Divide and roll:
Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball.
Flatten each ball slightly and dust it with some flour. Using a rolling pin, roll out each ball into a thin circle (paratha).

Cooking:
Heat a tawa over medium heat. Need to Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa. Cook for about a minute until you see bubbles forming on the surface. Then flip the paratha for cooking the other side. Spread a little ghee or oil over the surface and edges of the paratha. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking and to make it crisp.


Continue Cooking till both the sides reaches golden brown colour and crisp. Continue the process for the remaining dough balls also.

Serve:
Serve hot tomato parathas with yogurt, pickle, or any curry of your choice.
