INGREDIENTS:

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup ()
  • Fresh spinach (palak) – 2 cups (Finely chopped)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • Green chillies – 2Nos (Finely chopped)
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil or ghee
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Preparation Method

Today’s recipe is delicious and taste recipe that is Palak Rice and so let’s gets started.

Step 1 (Palak Rice)

  • Take 1 cup of basmati rice and wash it finely and soaked for 30 minutes and then take the soaked basmati rice move it to a rice cooker and set it aside.
  • Take a pan and add oil or ghee and heat it by keeping the flame on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until they become golden brown.
  • Add grated ginger and minced garlic, and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies. Continue Cooking for few more minutes.
  • Then add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and add 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder and then add 1 teaspoon of coriander powder and check for seasoning by adding salt as per your need and mix well and continue cooking for few more minutes.
  • Add chopped spinach (palak) to the mixture. Cook until the spinach wilts and is cooked through.

Step 2 (Palak Rice)

  • Add the cooked rice to the spinach mixture. Gently mix everything together, ensuring that the rice is well-coated with the spinach and spices.
  • Sprinkle garam masala and mix again. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve it hot with onion raita on the side.
  • Palak rice is a flavourful and wholesome dish that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish with other Indian curries. Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
