Shahi Paneer is a popular and delectable Indian dish that originates from the North Indian cuisine. “Shahi” means “royal” in Hindi, and this dish is aptly named as it is considered one of the regal dishes of Indian cuisine. It is a vegetarian dish that prominently features paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a rich and creamy gravy made with tomatoes, onions, various aromatic spices, and cream.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Paneer – 250gram cubed
  • Ghee – 2 tablespoons
  • Large onion – 1 No (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes – 2 No’s (pureed)
  • Cashew nuts – 1/4 cup (soaked in warm water)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cream – 1/2 cup
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Yogurt – 1/4 cup
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Preparation Method

Today’s recipe is delicious and taste recipe that is Shahi Paneer and so let’s gets started.

Step 1 (Shahi Paneer)

  • Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat and add the finely chopped onions and sauté it until it become golden brown colour.
  • Drain the soaked cashew nuts and add them to the pan along with the ginger-garlic paste. Continue to sauté for a few more minutes until the raw smell of ginger-garlic disappears.
  • And then add the tomato puree and continue cooking for few minutes by keeping the flame on low.
  • Now, add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, and cardamom powder and mix it well add the yogurt, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.

Step 2 (Shahi Paneer)

  • Cook for another minute Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool down a bit. Then, transfer it to a blender and blend into a smooth paste.
  • Return the blended mixture to the pan and place it back on medium heat. Add milk and fresh cream, stirring well to combine.
  • Add the paneer cubes and gently mix them into the gravy. Allow the Shahi Paneer to simmer on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Adjust salt and spices according to your taste preferences and Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a drizzle of cream.

Shahi Paneer is ready to serve as side dish for Naan or Roti or Jeera Rice, so you can try this recipe in your home and enjoy it and share the recipe with your family and friends.
