It is a delicious and aromatic North Indian dish that originates from the city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India. It features soft paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cubes cooked in a rich and creamy curry with a blend of flavorful spices.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 250g paneer (cubed)
  • 2 large onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (whisked)
  • 1/4 cup cashews (soaked in warm water)
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Preparation Method

Today’s recipe is delicious and taste recipe that is LUCKNOWI PANEER CURRY and so let’s gets started.

Step 1 (LUCKNOWI PANEER CURRY)

  • Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Then add 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and saute for few minute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Blend soaked cashews into a smooth paste and add it to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

Step 2 

  • Add whisked yogurt and cook until the mixture thickens. Add paneer cubes and stir gently to coat them with the masala.
  • Pour in cream and mix well. Simmer for a few minutes until the curry reaches the desired consistency.
  • Crush Kasuri Methi between your palms and sprinkle it over the curry along with garam masala.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve Lucknowi Paneer Curry hot with naan, roti, or rice.
