It is a delicious and flavourful Indian rice dish made with basmati rice, paneer (Indian cottage cheese), and green peas (matar). Here’s a simple recipe for making it:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 cup paneer, cubed
  • 1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 2-3 green cardamom pods
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) or oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Preparation Method

Today’s recipe is delicious and taste recipe that is Paneer Matar Pulao and so let’s gets started.

Step 1 (Paneer Matar Pulao)

Take 1 cup of basmati rice and wash it well and Soak it in water for 20 to 30 minutes and then drain the water.

Take a pressure cooker and add ghee or oil and heat it by keeping the flame on low. Then add cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom pods, bay leaf, and cinnamon stick. And Saute it for few more minutes.

Then add sliced onions and continue cooking till it turns golden brown colour. Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chillies and Sauté it for few minutes.

And then add chopped tomatoes and continue cooking for few more minutes. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and garam masala. Mix it well and add cubed paneer and green peas. Cook for a few minutes until the peas are slightly tender.

Step 2 

Add soaked and drained basmati rice to the mixture. Stir gently to coat the rice with the spices. Pour water (1.5 to 2 cups) into the pressure cooker. Season with salt according to taste.

To the pressure cooker, close the lid and cook for one whistle on medium heat. Garnish the Paneer Matar Pulao with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve the Paneer Matar Pulao hot with raita (yogurt with spices) or any side dish of your choice.
