INGREDIENTS:

Tomato – 12 No’s

Water – 1 Cup

Clove – 6 No’s

Cinnamon

Peppercorns – 1 Tsp.

Salt – 1 Tsp.

Sugar – 2 Tsp.

Vinegar – 1 Tsp.

Preparation Method

Step 1 (Homemade Tomato Ketchup)

Today’s recipe is a special ketchup recipe that is Homemade Tomato Ketchup, so let’s get started.

Tomato ketchup or Tomato sauce is something that we not only use as a dip but also in many dishes that we normally make at home.

I have taken 12 large ripe tomatoes wash them cleanly and cut them into large pieces for the tomato ketchup.

First I am going to cook the tomatoes for this take a nice wide saucepan and add one cup of water.

Step 2 (Homemade Tomato Ketchup)

Then add a few spices to give it a better flavor first add six cloves and add a small piece of cinnamon and add one teaspoon of peppercorns.

After 2 minutes add all the tomato pieces that have been chopped, close and cook on medium flame for about 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes if you see the tomatoes are cooked beautifully, you can turn off the stove at this point and cool the tomatoes completely.

Step 3 (Homemade Tomato Ketchup)

Then move it to a mixer jar and grind it to a fine and nice puree, strain the tomato puree completely and transfer the strained tomato puree into another pan.

We need to cook this further more so we are going to reduce it a little more remove all the excess moisture from the tomato puree, then add one teaspoon of salt and add two teaspoons of sugar.

After five minutes you can check for seasoning again and adjust it according to your taste now the flavors have to balance perfectly depending on the tanginess of the tomatoes. So you can see the tomato puree has reduced.

Step 4 (Homemade Tomato Ketchup)

So once it cools down it will become a little more thicker and then add one teaspoon of vinegar at this point (adding vinegar will increase the shelf life of the tomato ketchup) so if you see the tomato ketchup at this point has got a lovely rich red color.

The sauce has thickened beautifully this will take roughly about 30 minutes for the sauce to reduce nicely and to get the right consistency at this point.

Step 5 

Turn off the stove you need to cool this completely and then you can move to bottle. Now you see the delicious and perfect homemade tomato ketchup that you can serve with some nice hot potato fries by the side.

Make sure you store it in a nice airtight container or a bottle and refrigerate it. So you can try this recipe in your home and enjoy it and share the recipe with your family and friends.
